Ghaziabad Woman Suicide Case: In a tragic incident reported from the Wave City police station area of Ghaziabad, a 23-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after consuming sulphas, a highly toxic insecticide. The young woman, identified as Karishma, was admitted to a hospital in critical condition on Saturday and succumbed to her condition on Sunday during treatment.
According to police officials, Karishma was rushed to the hospital immediately after her condition deteriorated. Despite medical efforts, she could not be saved. Authorities have sent her body for post-mortem examination and initiated a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to her death.
Karishma’s family has made serious allegations against four individuals, including her childhood friend Shivangi. Her father, Pawan Verma, claimed that Shivangi, along with her sister-in-law Sapna, a friend named Rahul, and another Delhi-based individual identified as Rahul Jain, conspired to defraud Karishma of approximately ₹25–30 lakh. The family alleges that the accused gained her trust and gradually convinced her to transfer significant sums of money into their bank accounts.
The grieving family stated that the funds represented Karishma’s hard-earned savings. They claim she was misled and manipulated into making the transfers. When Karishma later demanded her money back, she allegedly faced sustained mental harassment and blackmail from the accused individuals.
Family members believe that the emotional and psychological stress caused by the financial dispute pushed her to take the extreme step. They further revealed that this was not the first time Karishma had attempted suicide. About seven months ago, she allegedly tried to end her life under similar stress. A complaint was filed at the Wave City police station at that time.
However, the family has accused the local police of not taking effective action during the earlier complaint. They claim that the issue eventually reached court, following which the accused party reportedly issued cheques amounting to several lakhs. Despite this, the dispute remained unresolved, and the case is still pending in court.
Police officials, on the other hand, have stated that preliminary findings suggest a financial dispute between the two parties. They confirmed that a post-mortem examination is underway and that further action will be based on the medical report and available evidence.
Adding complexity to the case, police revealed that the accused individuals have also filed a complaint under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act. Authorities have assured that all angles, including financial fraud, abetment to suicide, harassment, and counter-allegations, are being thoroughly examined.
Investigators are currently reviewing bank transaction records, digital communication, and previous complaint documents to piece together the sequence of events. Officials emphasized that no conclusions will be drawn until all evidence is carefully assessed.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the serious impact of financial exploitation and mental harassment, particularly among young individuals. Legal experts suggest that if allegations of fraud and abetment are proven, stringent legal provisions could be invoked against the accused.
Meanwhile, Karishma’s family continues to demand strict action and justice for their daughter. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities have assured that appropriate legal steps will follow once the post-mortem report and forensic findings are received.
