French President Emmanuel Macron has set social media abuzz with a cinematic farewell video following his recent India visit, using the popular Dhurandhar title track as the background score. The video, shared after his diplomatic tour, quickly went viral, with many online users saying he “nailed it.”
Macron, accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, concluded a three-day visit to India that included stops in Mumbai and New Delhi. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the French President posted a tribute clip recapping highlights from the trip — from meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to jogging through Mumbai’s streets and enjoying Indian cuisine.

He captioned the video simply: “Thank you India!” followed by the Indian and French flag emojis.
What truly caught viewers’ attention, however, was the background music — the energetic title track of Dhurandhar. The track, originally released over two decades ago by MC Punjabi, was reimagined for the film by composer Shashwat Sachdev with additional vocals by Hanumankind. Its powerful beats added a dramatic flair to Macron’s farewell montage.
Social media users were quick to react. Comments poured in praising the song choice, with many highlighting how seamlessly the track complemented the visuals. Some users described the gesture as “Dhurandhar-level diplomacy,” while others applauded the French President for embracing Indian pop culture.
During their visit, Macron and Brigitte Macron interacted with several prominent Bollywood personalities, including Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Zoya Akhtar, Richa Chadha, Shabana Azmi, and Ricky Kej in Mumbai. The French President also participated in the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. France and India previously co-chaired the AI Action Summit in February 2025, with innovation and technology cooperation forming a key pillar of their Horizon 2047 roadmap.
About Dhurandhar
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles. Released on December 5 last year, the action spy thriller became a blockbuster success.
The film reportedly grossed over ₹830 crore in India, becoming the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹800 crore mark domestically. Its worldwide collection surpassed ₹1300 crore, making it the highest-grossing film of 2025.
The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is scheduled to release on March 19 and is expected to expand the franchise’s espionage-driven universe. It will face a box office clash with Toxic, starring Yash.
Macron’s creative send-off not only highlighted strengthening Indo-French ties but also showcased how pop culture can add a relatable touch to diplomacy.
